He previously served in the United States armed forces before becoming an instructor at Job Corps in 1995. He enjoys working closely with students and teaching them the skills he has learned throughout his career.

Before Dawan Heard joined the Little Rock Job Corps team in 2010, Dawan worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, which included time as the executive sous chef at one of Little Rock’s top restaurants. Dawan is passionate about teaching his students culinary arts and inspiring them to pursue success.

is a Homeland Security/Protective Services instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Before he joined the team, Shane spent 20 years gaining experience in private security and first response. Shane’s curriculum offers students hands-on training in the field as they gain the skills to enter the workforce prepared to take on any challenge.

is the Lead UBC Carpentry instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Before becoming a part of the team in 2021, Paul worked with the Michigan Department of Corrections as a carpentry instructor. In his role, Paul is fulfilling his childhood dream of teaching in a carpentry shop and inspiring young people.

is the Office Administration instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Prior to joining the team in 2015, Monique held positions as a college professor and in office management. She is committed to motivating students to reach their full potential and obtain the skills they need to advance.

is a Bricklaying instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Michael joined the team in 2018, bringing years of experience in roofing, bricklaying and more. He has contributed to several high-profile projects, including Ford Field, MGM Casino and Little Ceasar’s Arena. He enjoys helping students learn valuable skills to enter the Bricklayers Union.

is the Medical Administrative Assistant instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Mary joined the Flint/Genesee JC team in 2006, bringing experience in the medical field with her. After graduating from the CNA program at Excelsior Springs Job Corps, Mary continued her education at the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College, where she studied nursing and science. She enjoys educating students and pushing them to reach their goals through Job Corps.

is the IUPAT Painting Pre-Apprenticeship instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. When she joined the team in 2019, Kelly brought with her a passion for teaching, motivating students to use Job Corps to achieve success and showing how women can lead in any industry.

is a UBC-NJCTF-recognized Carpentry instructor at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Gregory joined the team in 2021 with over 32 years of experience in the construction field, and currently serves as vice president and delegate at Carpenters Local 786.

is the Advanced Career Training/Other Training Providers program coordinator at Flint/Genesee Job Corps Center. Prior to joining the team in 2020, Felicia earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and her master’s degree in public administration. She is a Flint, Mich., native and has served over 20 years with Genesee County. She finds joy in helping students make a difference in their lives on their way to success.
